CMA Beltane 2005.
Its an experience. Its a ride. Its something that is over, and we now must mourn its loss.

Next workend will be on May 7th - 8th.
Someone take a candle to Herne's Hollow for me. I'll be stuck at home on-call.

At Beltaine 2005, CMA (www.Magickal-Arts.org) will be presenting a
Achievement Award to Donal, the founder of "Pagan Night Out" and "The
Brewers' Witch BBS." Donal started the PNOs in September of 1992,
The Mucky Duck, a pub in Houston Texas. Originally, it was a get
social for the BBS members. From there it evolved into a monthly
social and then spread across Texas to surrounding states and beyond.

Maeven Eller, Executive Director of CMA says:
"Before community centers, before Pagan Pride Day and even before
there was PNO. I believe our community owes a great deal of thanks
to Donal
for his vision that bridged the gap between the broom closet and
where we
find ourselves today. His work with Brewers' Witch BBS and PNO is
significant. I thank him for his vision, and I think we can all
agree; a
"night out" is exactly what Pagans needed."

As part of the award ceremony Maeven will be presenting Donal with a
book of PNO Memories. We need your help to create this book!!! Did
find a partner, a path, or a family at a PNO event?
If the PNO experience has brought you joy, please write a letter
how the PNOs have touched your life. Let Donal know how his
creation has
enriched your life and share your story as part of the PNO history.
An email account has been set up on the CMA website; please send
your story

[ mood | accomplished ]

I could not convince the clock that it really needed to click to 19:00 so I could leave work.  I swear at points the LED, would taunt me, making one small stroke and then immediately reversing it.
However, eventually the Gods were kind and allowed the clock to progress.  Harry and Jules followed me to Spirit Haven, or my second home.  Arriving well after 9:00, and the sky dark and thick like chicory coffee, I conned Hawk into turning his truck around so I could use his headlights to setup my tent.  Granted, I didn’t have the rugs or bedside table and accouchements this trip, but it was still the temple of my Zathras-ness.  Therefore, I had to stake down all the holds and poles correctly, instead of just half-assedly doing it.  So, finally, after much grunting and gauging of pole-size, I eventually get the Tent erect and rainfly covered.  I have a mostly setup portable domicile.  After fidgeting with Hawk’s truck to accept my large air mattress pump, the bed gets arranged, I pull out my camp chair, and sit by the fire.

After a bottle of mead, and about 3 or 4 different rounds of Pooh Clan Chants, and as many shots of Vodka, who should arrive, but my Pooh Brother Daniel and His Wife, my Pooh Sis Dez.  Daniel, the lanky sexy long black haired gentleman shouts “Marco” in an attempt to figure out where the approaching ambush of loving friends is coming from, and instead of Polo, I shout “Homo.”  After a group hug/grope session, we all settle in by the fire for some more Mead, good conversation, and eventual pass-outed-ness.

So, very intoxicated, I stumble into my air-mattress queen size bed, and attempt to fall asleep to the sounds of owls and coyotes.  Until I realize those animal sounds I’m hearing, are really 2 of my favorite couples, on either side of me, enjoying the pleasures of their respective partners.  I was getting surround sound fucking without paying the admission to a bordello.  Unfortunately, my long desired Hot Gay Man of Much Sex did not appear, so I simply jacked off to the sound and passed away into relative slumber.

I awoke to the sound of a cat attempting to pass a very large hairball.  Actually, Daniel had stopped smoking, and since his tent was a whopping foot away from my tent, I heard it all.  At breakfast, I mocked the sex noises and was promptly assigned to the newly arrived soldier boy to transform a gravel slope into stairs.  Thinking in the pagan axiom of “Perfect Love and Perfect Trust” that this would not be a problem, I hauled concrete and shovels over to the Soldier Boy, and then we hauled it down a quarter mile stretch to the slope.

Unfortunately, what should have been an easy task was soon complicated by the fact that we got additional helpers, all with different ideas on how to do things.  After having several “elders” come by to say “Hmm” we eventually followed azreel ’s idea and just made simple steps with concrete.  Hawk and Harry also helped with the project. Harry pretty much took command, but Hawk and Daniel constantly jabbed back and forth on exact specifics. Military boy had decided that he was going to entertain himself by trying to get a rise out of me. However, he soon found that I am a true princess, I do the work of a man, while maintaining that somewhat aloof quality that really means I’m too intoxicated to notice I’m doing something wrong.  I think the incident of pouring water on his head because I filled the bucket too full in the river had something to do with him disliking me, I’m not so sure.

Other chores were done, sunburns acquired, sweat achieved.  Life would have been good except that one of the plumber volunteers actually blew up our water pump, so the showers were dead, and the river water wasn’t exactly clean.  So, sponge paths with Ozarka bottles was the order of the evening.

Ritual was held under a crescent moon, giving just enough light to illumine the area with the combined assistance of a small fire created by yours truly.  Guilt and Shame were released, and joy filled the grove as we walked back over the ritual area to our campfire, and rejoined our brothers who didn’t attend for much more alcohol and fire watching.

jaelafae, dreamdesire, Bren, Hawk, Beth, Jason, and I all had the time of our lives out there Friday night getting drunk and otherwise intoxicated, enjoyed a great romp, that had some scary moments.  There is much more work to be done our there before festival, and I’m looking forward to losing myself in the trees again.

Glorious Workend Tasks [07 Mar 2005|06:25pm]

[ mood | blah ]

Hi, my name is Alan Eddy, many of you know me from the Tea Room for the last several years. I am now the Managing Director of Land and Facilities under Joe Rose Land Director. I have looked over the needs of CMA and the requirements for the next festival. This weeks Work Weekend we will be working on the following:

Stairs to the bridge to Grandmother's Grove--Fix the holes and stabilize the rock fill there.

The Culvert on the cart path to Grandmother's Grove--Will build a bridge over the culvert

Stage resurfacing--Greg is heading this one up and I will be bringing tools for this such as deck screw guns, nail guns and the such.

Rebuild water pump system in the bath house

Clean up grounds--Burnable stuff to be burned, Metal garbage to be loaded into my red trailer for recycling.

Running power to the fairy mound.

We have a large list to get accomplished for this weekend. We would love to have a large turnout to help! Any and all skill levels are needed. Enchanted Winds Coven is supplying Saturday Morning and Evening and Sunday morning meals with their lovely chef Skye cooking! Bring your own lunch fixings. As always please bring lots of WATER to drink and sunscreen to wear. In the evening join us for drumming around the fire.

Work Weekend Schedule [26 Oct 2004|12:05pm]

Maybe it would be best to put the Work Weekends in the To-Do Section on this Community.

I only have one work weekend on it for now, because there are some things the DLF and I need to discuss. If we follow our normal schedule, there would be a work weekend the weekend before Thanksgiving Weekend. I need to find out if we move that work weekend to Thanksgiving, schedule both weekends as work weekends, etc. Also, there is some discussion about taking a much needed sabbatical in the month of December. As soon as I know something, I will post it here and all the other places I post it around.

Workend Stuff [26 Oct 2004|11:51am]

[ mood | nauseated ]

This past Sunday, the nasty foul smelling garbage was removed. I have never seen so many maggots before in my life.
I didn't know that we were so icky.
Icky, Icky, Icky.

The land was amazing, though you could clearly see evidence of rainfall. The creek was high, but still passable.

Star, can we get a schedule of workends posted on this LJ?

Love ya'll.

Latest Work Weekend [26 Oct 2004|11:18am]

This last work weekend was a rain out. We high tailed out of there by lunch time, so as not to get stuck by the creek. Sunday, Pooh's came out to do some post festival clean-up.

Thank you Poohs!!!!

Work Weekend Reflections [27 Sep 2004|11:37am]

This last work weekend was really incredible for me. It wasn't the work, but the way we all came together for a most wonderful ritual facilitated by bagoly and initiatezathras. I hope it is safe for me to sort of give an overview of the ritual.

Basically, it was a cleansing ritual to prepare for the Dark Half of the year by dumping negative energy to be transmuted in the Cauldron of Plenty by the Goddess. Then, each participant would go to each other participant in the ritual and say something positive to each person so as not to leave a vacuum. (initiatezathras have I said too much?) In order to participate in the ritual, an oath had to be taken upon entering the circle that nothing said could be repeated.

So, I would like to share something while keeping my oath. Since the ritual, I have had wonderful feelings since that have carried me through the past two days. I recall some of the positive things that were said to me by some very wonderful people and it fills my heart with love and appreciation for my family. My SO and I were having some difficulties, but after this ritual, it seems to have been washed away, and I feel a peace I have not felt in quite sometime. I was asked to call a quarter, which was a very wonderful thing for me, because I have not called any quarter in such a long time because I have been so busy with CMA and Spirithaven, not to mention my own life.

Thank you all for the wonderful memories and beautiful words you have given me. I treat them all as very special gifts that I will carry with me throughout the year and get me through the dark times.

Why I love workends. [24 Jul 2004|12:08pm]

[ mood | contemplative ]

  1. Because I get to be a Princess for a Weekend

  2. Because I get to go from Fag to Guy for a Weekend.

  3. Because I get to sleep on Spirit Haven.

  4. Because I get some exercise that doesn't involve a Gym or obnoxious Rap Music.

  5. Because I am surrounded by people who care about my Home (CMA)

  6. Because I get to see members of my family more than twice a year.

Is it workend yet?

I set this to moderate members, in order to keep out the riff-raff, but I think it is also moderating posts. This is a test!
